1000 gold versus the next tier up
Compared with the 20 USD card, the only thing that changes is the quantity: both pay 100 gold for every dollar of face value, so neither one buys gold more cheaply than the other. Two of these cards therefore land the same 2000 gold as a single 20 USD purchase. A better rate per dollar only starts at the 200 USD denomination and above, which is where the extra gold appears.
